MansaWear uses three main fabrics in its design: Woodin fabrics, basaan  and KenteNouveau.  Woodin fabrics features 300 - 600 count cotton in varied pattern, while basaan is 100% Jacquard and KenteNouveau is a twist on classic Kente  woven with silk, synthetic & cotton fibers

Woodin enhances and refreshes its fabric collections thanks to 14 artists who conceive and create an average of 500 drawings per year, enabling this manufacturer the luxury providing limited editions of its prints and fabrics.  Because the manufacturer tends not to repeat its patterns, your MansaWear outfit will invariably end up being one of a kind. MansaWear solves this conundrum by designing an outfit Uniquely You through your choice of style and color scheme. Below are pattern categories that you can explore further at Woodin's website:

  • Afrikor de Woodin
  • Bassam
  • Batik
  • Bogolan
  • Emotions de Woodin
  • Kit Or de Woodin
  • Passion de Woodin
  • Sensation de Woodin
  • Style de Woodin
  • Succes de Woodin
  • Tentation de Woodin

Basaan fabric features woven scenes of floral patterns, simple scenes or intricate geometric designs, created out of silk, linen, cotton or synthetic fibers. The shorter weft patterns in damask allow for more subtle effects in the fabric to be created as it plays off of shadow and light. Damask also contain a higher thread count than that of brocade.  Basaan is a 100% damask or jacquard woven fabric. MansaWear’s Basaan outfits are set-off by joromi designs, a type of embroidery technique well known and treasured in Ghana. Joromi tailors avoid repeating a particular design (unless requested so by client) because their raison d'être is to produce a pattern or design that’s more intricate and beautiful than a previous one made.

MansaWear has modified the classic kente cloth, which utilities 8 or more different colors threads in weaving, to KenteNouveau where the enigmatic pattern employs not more than 4 colors. To ensure the suppleness of the fabric and achieve the soft, feminine lines, KenteNouveau is woven with a silk and cotton or nylon thread.
